Aloha & Bonjour

Let us take you on a trip to the French countryside

Executive Chef ZZ has made his anticipated return to the kitchen right here in Honolulu! After years of working throughout the industry and across the globe, ZZ’s latest venture is our little café, serving 100% organic, gourmet-style European eats in a casual setting.

ORGANIC, ARTISAN, AND MADE FROM SCRATCH

Farmhouse Café’s journey began September 24, 2020, after a long year of waiting for the Hawai’i state lockdown to lift. Opening a restaurant in the middle of a pandemic has been no easy feat, and we have overcome countless obstacles to keep our ovens on and doors open. In the time since, we have worked hard to grow as an establishment and a family. Every day, Chef ZZ is cooking up some new and unique concept, always hoping to bring a little European flavor to paradise. Our ohana is here to ensure a five-star dining experience for kama’aina and visitors alike.

The American Dream Come to Fruition

It’s a story we’ve all come to know: a young man arrives in America with a nearly-empty pocket, eyes sparkling with optimism, and a blank itinerary. Zouhair Zairi, at the ripe age of nineteen, boarded a plane from Morocco to New York City with $500 cash and no intentions of returning home. He had grown up in adoration of American culture, most notably the classic tales of Cowboys & Indians.

Through grueling hours washing dishes, waiting tables, and studying (or pretending to) for a college degree, Zouhair Zairi evolved into Chef ZZ, the patriarch of the Farmhouse family. After three decades in America, Chef ZZ has cooked his way through the country, from coast to coast, Atlanta, New York, Phoenix, and more. His honored guests have included many renowned chefs, as well as the 1996 Olympic team and President George W. Bush. Chef ZZ now resides here on Oahu with a bright teenage son, an all-star team of cooks and servers, and that everlasting spark of ambition that brought him here all those years ago.

Chef ZZ’s cookbook Moorish Fusion Cuisine is available for purchase in the café.
If you catch him, he might just autograph it for you.
